
The classic Bison Burger makes a wonderful meal. It’s meaty, juicy, full of protein and fun to eat. If you add a lot of vegetable toppings, it’s even more nutritious.
It’s so easy and versatile to prepare, whether on BBQ, in a fry pan or in the oven.
Kids love it. Just about everyone does.
Here's a recipe for a classic bison burger
1 lb. (2.7 – 3.6 kg) Ground Bison
1 egg
2 tbs. bread crumbs
2 tbs. steak spice (or to taste)
2 tbs. ketchup
2 tbs. shallots chopped
Fresh ground pepper
For Fried Shallots:
4 shallots thinly sliced
A light oil such as Canola for frying
Toppings
4 slices cheddar
4 slices bacon
4 slices tomato
pickles sliced
4 large buns
Mix all burger ingredients together and form patties. Refrigerate.
For Fried Shallots
In a large frying pan, heat the oil and fry shallots until golden brown. Remove them from the oil with a slotted spoon and transfer to paper towelling to drain off excess oil.
